A message from Shore Sports Zone founder Rich Chrampanis
Thanks for stopping by Shore Sports Zone. The original plan was to keep things under wraps until September. We’re too excited to get started, so much like a restaurant, we’re doing a soft open. So if you’re on here, you are a true trailblazer. You can say you were here at the very beginning and maybe I owe you some kind of T-shirt or future Shore Sports Zone trinket.
We will spend the summer building every nook and cranny of our page and slowly get ourselves ready to bring you extensive content of the Jersey Shore Sports scene.
Here’s the story……
I graduated from CBA in 1988, then Saint Bonaventure in 1992. After two years at WCBS-TV working under Steve Levy and Bruce Beck, I began my sportscasting career. 20 plus years in Ottumwa, Iowa, Bangor, Maine and Myrtle Beach. Every night, I got on the desk four times a day and gave the local sportscast. I decided that I wanted to bring that experience to where I grew up. I don’t have a TV station anymore, but there’s a website, YouTube and social media. I’ll take my cues from you and show up at the games you want me to be at and tell the stories that you tip me off on.
You can check out some of my work from back in the day here: www.rchrampanis.wordpress.com
The 30 day plan…
So my fancy TV camera has arrived at Shore Sports Zone headquarters. I’ll hit the ground running and shoot some of the big spring high school sports playoff games as well as the Lakewood Blue Claws and some features at Monmouth Park.
We will have three 30 minute “pilots”, a taste of what we’ll be doing, coming up in June!
