Rutgers Prep 1 Bridgewater-Raritan 1 | Girls
The No. 1 girls soccer team in America Rutgers Prep was driven to the limit to start their season on Wednesday as the Argonauts drew 1-1 with Bridgewater-Raritan. This result extends Prep’s unbeaten streak to a whopping 49 games, but marks their first non-tournament non-win since Oct. 11, 2022 when they fell to Somerville. The Panthers struck first in the 8th minute as junior Ella Giacomazza scored in close off an assist from Juliet Casamento. Then, in the 61st minute, Rutgers Prep freshman Sasha Romaszka scored her first high school goal from way outside and tied it up at 1. The game would remain scoreless through regulation and two overtime periods. Rutgers Prep goalie and Binghamton commit Jordan Reigrod finished with four saves, while Bridgewater-Raritan’s Brooke Engstrom had 13.

Mainland 4 Middle Twp. 0 | Girls
The Mustangs used a three-goal surge in the second half to secure a season-opening victory on a soggy afternoon against the Panthers. St. Joe’s commit Emma Tenaglia netted a pair of goals to lead the way in the victory. Gaby Guillen had a goal and two assists, while Maddie McBride went for a goal and an assist for Mainland (1-0). Middle Township (0-1) will look to bounce back next Tuesday against Absegami.

Steinert 2 Marlboro 1 | Boys
The Spartans get second half goals from Sergio Mateus-Gomez and Rafaelle Tramo and hang on in the final seven minutes to score a quality opening win on the road. Tramo connected on a 20-yard free kick in the 72nd minute to make it a 2-0 match. Marlboro closed the gap on a Nick Hramyka goal just 1:42 after the Tramo strike but the Spartans were able to hang on.

Northern Burlington 7 West Windsor-Plainsboro South 0 | Boys
Elijah Font led the way with a hat trick, giving the senior five goals through the Greyhounds’ first two games. Lucas Villegas, Lukas Kekesi and Monroe Castor also found the back of the net, while James Murray recorded his second straight shutout. NBC moves to 2-0 and have outscored its opponents 10-0. Northern Burlington (2-0) will face Robbinsville on Saturday.
