Today’s the day where non-public powers in New Jersey clash for spots in their respective sectional finals. The semifinal action on Wednesday certainly lived up to the billing as Red Bank Catholic orchestrates a wild rally to top St. Augustine, Don Bosco gets revenge on Delbarton and Gloucester Catholic takes care of Ranney. Stay tuned as the highlights come in throughout the night!
Red Bank Catholic 9 St. Augustine Prep 8 | Non-Public A South Semifinal
The Caseys trailed 8-2 before beginning a one out rally in the bottom of the 7th with four hits, four walks and Max D’Antoni reaching on an error that allowed to score the game tying and game winning run in an epic seven run comeback. Luke Lonczak drove in two runs and Drew Cannon added an RBI single as part of the rally. St. Augustine (18-8), the defending state champion, looked like it was going to replicate last year’s 12-2 win in Red Bank in the state playoffs racing out to a 4-0 lead early and adding on runs in sixth and the seventh to build a six run cushion. RBC (20-7) will face archrival CBA on Friday with a spot in the state championship game on the line.

Don Bosco Prep 8 Delbarton 6 | Non-Public A North Semifinal
The top-seeded Ironmen were able to get some revenge on the team that’s given them the most fits over the last two seasons. Nick Becker came through with a monster game to led Don Bosco Prep (23-2) to their 15th consecutive win and second straight appearance in a sectional final. Becker smashed a game-tying three run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the Ironmen life. Junzen Sarza’s two-run single one inning later proved to be the go-ahead hit to secure the victory. Dylan Henshaw and Nick Gilpin combined to throw four shutout innings of relief in the win. Four-seed Delbarton (24-5) took a big lead with a six-run third inning, but were not able to hold on. Don Bosco will now host three-seed DePaul Catholic, who beat Seton Hall Prep, in the Non-Public A North final on Friday.

Gloucester Catholic 12 Ranney 3 | Non-Public B South Semifinal
The two-time defending state champion Rams delivered a five spot in the sixth to put away the Panthers and return to the Non-Public “B” South title game. East Carolina commit Braeden Lipoff led the way with a 4 RBI day at the dish in the victory. Jack Mustaro drove in a pair of runs, including a RBI triple in the sixth for top-seeded Gloucester Catholic (22-3). Justin Kaufman gave fourth-seeded Ranney (12-9) an early lead with a RBI groundout in the loss. Gloucester Catholic will host Bishop Eustace for the sectional championship on Friday.
