It’s time to crown the first batch of state champions in the New Jersey lacrosse world. Both the boys’ and girls’ non-public state finals took place on Wednesday and we had two great games between four stellar teams. Check out the highlights from Seton Hall vs. Don Bosco and Pingry vs. Oak Knoll!
Seton Hall Prep 12 Don Bosco Prep 6 | Non-Public State Final | Boys
Villanova commit Nolan Sabel turned in one of the best performances of his high school career to end the Pirates’ two-decade long title drought. Sabel ripped off a game-high five goals to fuel Seton Hall Prep (19-3) to their second-ever group championship and first since 2004. Joe DelMauro had a hat trick and Clark Rich tagged a pair of goals to round out the scoring for the Pirates in the win. Don Bosco Prep (17-7) was held to their second-lowest scoring output of the season in the loss – All-American Brady Scioletti only had one goal in the championship game.

Pingry 12 Oak Knoll 6 | Non-Public State Final | Girls
The Big Blue secured their first-ever state championship on Wednesday and in the process also ended one of the most impressive dynasties in NJ sports. Pingry (23-2) got an incredibly well-balanced effort from all levels of the field. Siena Casale and Becca Kirschner each had hat tricks in the title match to end the Royals’ nine-straight state championship run. Oak Knoll (17-6) started slow, picked up the pace early in the second but could not sustain it against a better squad.
