The Non-Public baseball championships take center stage at Rutgers Bainton Field.  Delbarton and St. Augustine go to extras and Gloucester Catholic continues its dominance.  Check out all the highlights and post-game reaction from state championship Wednesday!


Delbarton 4 St. Augustine 1 (10 innings) | Non-Public “A” State Championship

Kyle McBride struck out eight batters in two and two-thirds innings of relief in extra innings setting the stage for the Green Wave to plate three runs in the top of the 10th inning on an Lorenzo Maselli bases loaded walk and sacrifice flies from Finn O’Loughlin and Ted Masino to claim the school’s first baseball title since 2019.  St. Augustine’s Alex Weingartner pitched seven innings allowing just one run while Delbarton’s duo of Masino and John Fedun matched the NJ Gatorade Player of the Year.  Tied 1-1 in the 8th, St. Augustine had the bases loaded with one out before McBride got the Green Wave out of the jam.  Delbarton finishes the year 28-4 and will be ranked #1 in New Jersey.

Gloucester Catholic 11 St. Mary-Rutherford 1 (5 innings) | Non-Public “B” State Championship

The Rams broke things wide open with a six-run third inning as they rolled to a fourth-straight Non-Public B state championship. Seton Hall commit Henry Pancoast and Mississippi State commit Noah Danza drove in a pair of runs each to pace the offense in the win. Jude Morgan allowed one run over five strong innings with six strikeouts on the night for Gloucester Catholic (27-4). Romeo Cabrera had a RBI single in the loss for St. Mary-Rutherford (17-12-1). Gloucester Catholic four-peats for the second time in program history (NP B in 2010 & 2011, NP A in 2012 & 2013), and becomes just the second program in state history to win four consecutive state titles in the same group (Cherry Hill West from 1989-1992).
