Playoffs in North Jersey are underway and the regular season is just about done on the Shore Conference and we pay a visit to both regions. Our team has highlights from the Big Central Tournament quarterfinals along with a high-octane shootout between Rumson-Fair Haven and RBC. 


Franklin 25 Hillside 6 | Big Central Tournament Quarterfinal

The first-year Warriors showed poise and explosiveness on their way to their first-ever playoff win. Chloe Jackson stole the show with a wild 38-yard touchdown grab late in the second half to seal the win for third-seeded Franklin (5-1). Iyanna Cotten was a defensive menace, snaring two interceptions and a 64-yard pick six. QB Gianna Mattia finished 6-10 passing for 85 yards, two passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown, as well. Sixth-seeded Hillside (5-4) got their lone score in the first half when Precious Onyagocha connected with SuHaylah Allen on a passing score. Franklin advances to the conference semifinals where they’ll face No. 2 seed Monroe.

Rumson-Fair Haven 44 Red Bank Catholic 24

Ella Mason threw four touchdown passes, ran for a score and had two interceptions an defense accounting for 38 of RFH’s 44 points to pace the defending Shore Conference champs to a 5-0 record.  Tess Beams had two touchdown runs for RBC with Katherine Bauman catching a touchdown for the Caseys other score.  RFH scored nine points in the final 12 seconds thanks to a Mason INT followed by a 40 yard touchdown pass to Katie Walls along with an extra point pass to Emily Colucci.
