Don Bosco Prep 8 Bergen Catholic 2
The Ironmen’s potent lineup used an explosive third inning to zoom past and beat their rivals for the fifth-straight time. Dennis Mulhearn had a game-high 3 RBI, Michael Hanna had two RBI and Nick Becker had an RBI double to power Don Bosco (4-0) in the victory. Ethan Lee earned the win on the mound, pitching four solid innings to stifle the Crusaders. Tyler Yoo’s RBI triple was the biggest hit of the game for Bergen Catholic (2-2) in the loss.

Monmouth Regional 6 Rumson-Fair Haven 0
Collin Denton pitched a complete game 3-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks and catcher Bobby Davidson broke a scoreless tie with two outs in the fifth with a towering three run home run to give the Falcons a split with the Bulldogs (2-2). The Falcons added three runs in the sixth inning and Denton closed the door in the seventh getting his 10th strikeout to end the game.

Mainland 3 Ocean City 2
The Mustangs erased a two-run deficit late to knock off the Red Raiders in game one of a two-game series between these Cape-Atlantic League rivals. Chase Camac tied the game in the fifth with a RBI fielder’s choice before Luca Bruno scored on a throwing error in the sixth. Miami commit Jake Lodgek went four innings, allowing two runs with eight strikeouts, while Army commit Finn Haines picked up the win in relief for Mainland (4-2). Ryan Baldwin had a RBI single and Monmouth commit Travis Large tossed 4.1 innings, allowing two runs with four strikeouts for Ocean City (2-4).

St. Augustine 19 Hammonton 1 (5 innings)
The defending Non-Public A state champion Hermits scored 13 runs in the third inning to beat the Blue Devils for the second time in as many days. Penn State commit Alex Weingartner and Gabe Gillespie each had RBI triples in the victory for St. Augustine (6-0), while Bryant commit Jameson Dobis picked up the win on the mound. Hammonton fell to (3-3) with the loss.

Pennington 14 Hill 4 (5 innings)
It’s been a scorching hot start to the season for Pennington (8-0). The Red Hawks scored in 4/5 innings including an 8-run bottom of the second. Sophomore Ryan Richer led the charge in both pitching and at the plate; 2 innings pitched, 0 runs, 4 strikeouts, 2/2 with 2 RBI’s. On the flip side, Cole White tallied a Home Run for Hill (2-2). A season ago Pennington finished with 10 wins. Now just 8 games into the season, they’re just two games shy of last years win total. The Red Hawks have established themselves as one of the best teams in the state with their 7th mercy victory.
