The state playoffs are here! We’ve got highlights from around the state on the first day of the boys’ soccer state tournament. Check out all our coverage as it rolls in through the night.


Ocean Township 1 Allentown 1 PK’s (4-2) | Central Group 3 First Round

(9) Ocean Township advanced to the Central Jersey, Group 3 Quarterfinals following a 1-1 (4-2) victory over (8) Allentown in Penalty Kicks. After no scoring in the first half both teams traded goals midway through the second as Cade Maglione and Connor Shaw made the score 1-1 to end regulation. The match would go to Penalty Kicks which would favor Ocean Township 4-2.

Elizabeth 5 Bridgewater-Raritan 0 | North 2 Group 4 First Round

Brandon Quishpi-Aquiles led an offensive outburst for the Minutemen in a resounding first round win. Quishpi-Aquiles came through with a hat trick in the win for second-seeded Elizabeth (15-3). No. 15 seed Bridgewater-Raritan (8-8) came into the state tournament red hot after taking down powerhouse Pingry earlier in the week. Elizabeth will face the winner of Dickinson-J.P. Stevens on Saturday.

Eastern 3 Egg Harbor Twp. 0 | South Group 4 First Round

The Vikings handled their business to open the state playoffs by blanking the Eagles in their first round matchup. Cooper Schwarz picked up a clean sheet in net and finished with eight saves for sixth-seeded Eastern (14-5-1). David Obando, Cole Bacon, and Michael Schaeffer all scored in the victory. Eastern advances to the South Group 4 quarterfinals and will face third-seeded Toms River North on Saturday.

Rumson-Fair Haven 6 Raritan 1 | Central Jersey Group 2 First Round

Liam Barnett and Luke D’Angelo had two goals each to pace RFH to a dominant first round win over the Rockets.  Raritan got a goal from Adam Warren to get on the board and make it a 2-1 Rumson lead at the half. The Bulldogs scored four straight goals in the second half to earn a home date with AL Johnson in the Central Jersey Group 2 quarterfinals.
