It was another busy day on the pitch as county and conference tournament season continues around the Garden State. St. Augustine seeks its fourth-straight boys Cape-Atlantic League Tournament title, while the Egg Harbor Township girls try to win their first CAL Tournament title. Defending GMC girls champs Monroe push forward in their title defense while Colts Neck and Freehold Township look to punch a ticket to the boys SCT final. St. Augustine 2 Egg Harbor Twp. 1 | Boys | Cape-Atlantic League Tournament Final

The top-seeded Hermits trailed for the first time in a conference match all season late in the second half, but rallied with two goals in four minutes to bring home their fourth-straight CAL Tournament championship. John Lamanteer netted the tying goal in the 70th minute, before assisting Mike Coluzzi for the go-ahead goal in the 74th minute. St. Augustine (14-1-1) has now gone 48-straight Cape-Atlantic League matches without a loss. Ary Sanchez scored his second goal of the year in the loss for second-seeded Egg Harbor Township (11-2-3), which had a 14-match unbeaten streak snapped in the loss.

Egg Harbor Twp. 3 Mainland 1 | Girls | Cape-Atlantic League Tournament Final

It was an afternoon to remember for Egg Harbor Township (16-0). The Eagles secured their first CAL Tournament Final championship, highlighted by sophomore Payton Crowell’s stunning goal—one of the best of the 2025 season. Head Coach Pete Lambert also made history, becoming the first coach at the school to win a CAL title with both the boys’ and girls’ teams. EHT notched their third win this season against Mainland (11-4) and now look ahead to the upcoming SJCA Tournament, entering as the seventh seed.

Colts Neck 2 Freehold Twp. 1 | Boys | Shore Conference Tournament Semifinal

Sean Moore scored in the opening minute of overtime on a brilliant 55 yard run that saw him weave in and out of Freehold Township defenders to give the defending Shore Conference champs a return to the championship game.  The #14 seed was primed for an upset when Bobby Lambard scored on a fantastic header off a Gino Casteneda corner in the 60th minute to put the Patriots in front 1-0.  Colts Neck scored on a Gabe Kruglyansky goal with just 1:04 left in regulation to force overtime.  Freehold Township played a man down for the final seven minutes of regulation and OT.  Colts Neck will take on Middletown South in the championship game this Saturday.

Monroe 3 Colonia 0 | Girls | Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament Quarterfinal

Junior back Emma Burness had a memorable game Wednesday night as the Falcons pushed forward in their defense of last year’s county championship. Burness had a hand – or foot – in all three goals as she scored twice and assisted on another for fourth-seeded Monroe (10-4-2). Julia Artz scored the other goal in an impressive shutout win over fifth-seeded Colonia (11-5). Monroe advances to face top-seed Old Bridge in the GMC semifinals.
