The Shore Conference Tournament heats up with 2nd round action, and JSZ has highlights from three fantastic games!
Holmdel 2 Lacey 1 (OT) | Boys SCT 2nd Round
Bryan Cardoso scored for the Lions as time expired to force overtime, but Brendan Worobel answered with a golden goal to win it for the Hornets in OT. It was Worobel’s second goal of the game, as 10th-seeded Holmdel (9-4) advances to face #2 seed Freehold Township. It was #7 seed Lacey’s first loss of the season, as the Lions fall to (13-1-1).

Manalapan 1 (4) Ocean Township 1 (3) | SCT Boys 2nd Round
It took well over 100 minutes of soccer to find a winner, but the Braves proved they belong among the top seeds in this year’s Shore Conference Tournament. Tied 1-1 after regulation and two overtime periods, No. 4 seeded Manalapan pulled through in a PK shootout to beat No. 13 seed Ocean thanks to a pair of saves from sophomore goalkeeper Matteo Paolillo and consecutive finishes from Ryan Super, Jimmy Bruno, Jonah Ortega and Jacob Hyams. Bruno scored Manalapan’s lone goal in the 21st minute while Brian Mirando scored on a long free kick for Ocean in the 65th minute.

Wall 3 Rumson-Fair Haven 0 | Boys SCT 2nd Round
Emmett Aravich and Daniel Byrnes scored goals three minutes apart late in the first to spark the #9 seed to an upset win over #8 RFH and advance to the Shore Conference quarterfinals and a matchup with top seed CBA. Kyle Horowitz added a goal in the 61st minute for the 9-3-1 Crimson Knights. Wall avenges a 5-1 loss to Rumson on October 2nd.
