Tournament time in the Shore Conference heats up with an upset and a down-to-the-wire finish while a couple more big games headline our mid-week coverage. Check it all out as the highlights roll in!


Ocean Township 1 Manalapan 1 (Spartans win in PK’s 4-1) | Shore Conference Tournament Round of 16

Spartans keeper Zach Frabizio made two saves in penalty kicks and Ocean went 4 for 4 to knock out Manalapan and advance to the SCT quarterfinals.  Manalapan had a 1-0 lead thanks to a first half goal from Jonathan Luz and was ten minutes from advancing until Marc Gleason’s header off a beautiful long range service from Luciano Ibarra leveled the match in the 71st minute.  The #7 seed advances to face second seed Howell in the SCT Final 8.

Toms River East 5 Colts Neck 2 | Shore Conference Tournament Round of 16

Seeds don’t always tell the whole story and the Raiders have become the story of the 2023 Shore Conference Tournament through the first two rounds. 20th-seeded Toms River East (6-3-3) put together a total effort in their takedown of the fourth-seeded Cougars. Jack Smyth scored a pair of first half goals to headline the win. Colts Neck (8-3) was held scoreless before breaking through in the 58th minute, albeit too late to play for a comeback. TRE will face No. 12 seed Middletown North in the quarterfinal round later this week.

Pingry 7 Monroe 1 | Boys

No. 2 Pingry (12-0) remains undefeated on the season following a dominating 12-0 win over Monroe (10-5-1). First half goals from Anthony Bugliari and Mitchell Oldham gave Big Blue a 3-0 lead halftime, Bugliari and Oldham both finished the afternoon with two scores each. They’ve outscored opponents 26-1 in their last six match ups.

Washington Twp. 7 Delsea 0 | Boys

The Minutemen erupted for six goals in the first half as they rolled to their fourth-straight win and stayed unbeaten in Tri-County Conference play. Ajani Dwyer had a hat trick and an assist while Drew Heil finished with a pair of goals and an assist in the win. Pete Louvaris and Angelo Troia combined for a shutout for Washington Twp. (11-1). Max Van Auken had six saves in the loss for Delsea (11-2). Both teams now get set for the South Jersey Coaches Cup Tournament, which begins this weekend.
