Sectional and state titles were up for grabs on Tuesday, and JSZ has plenty of exciting coverage!


Delbarton 8 Seton Hall Prep 7 | Boys | Non-Public State Final

In a fierce rivalry showdown, Delbarton (20-6) dethroned Seton Hall Prep (14-8) to claim the New Jersey Non-Public Boys Lacrosse championship. Seven different Green Wave players scored, while Chase Houser was the lone multi-goal scorer with two tallies. The victory sends the state title back to Morristown for a record 19th time.

Kent Place 8 Oak Knoll 7 | Girls | Non-Public State Final

Molly Brozowski had a hat trick and Addison Quinn’s second goal of the game in the fourth quarter proved to be the game winner as the Dragons win the school’s first state championship knocking off the #1 team in New Jersey.  Kent Place raced out to a 4-1 lead and held a 5-4 lead at the half.  Lauren Dietrich scored back to back goals to get the Royals within one beore Quinn made it 8-6.  Oak Knoll saw their streak of nine straight state titles snapped last year by Pingry.  The Royals (21-4) beat Kent Place in quadruple overtime followed by the Union County championship.  Kent Place finishes the year 19-2 after winning the third matchup.

Ocean City 6 Manasquan 5 (4OT) | Boys | South Jersey Group 2 Final

Kevin Entress scored with three seconds left in quadruple overtime to send the Red Raiders to a state final for the second time in program history. Entress finished with three goals to lead the way for OC (16-6). Lucas Longo scored a pair of goals for Squan (12-7) in the loss. Ocean City will face Sparta for the Group 2 state title on Saturday.

Summit 8 Chatham 6 | Boys | North Jersey Group 3 Final

No. 1 Summit boys lacrosse is going to a state title game for the 9th straight year after defeating No. 3 Chatham 8-6 on Tuesday to win the North Group 3 title. It took a big comeback effort from the Hilltoppers to get it done, finding themselves down 6-2 with just over 3:00 remaining in the third quarter. Quinn Hynes ended up scoring the go-ahead, game-winning goal with just over 5:00 remaining in the 4th quarter. The Hilltoppers were led on offense by Chris Davies, Luke Fowler, and Jack Freeman who each scored two goals.

Summit will now face No. 6 Shawnee in the Group 3 final at TCNJ on Friday at 6:30 for a chance at their fourth straight state title across Groups 2 and 3.

Shawnee 13 Moorestown 3 | Boys | South Jersey Group 3 Final

The Renegades used a 5-0 scoring run in the second quarter to seize control and powered their way to a second-straight sectional title. Rutgers commit Tyler Rotkowitz netted four goals to lead the offense in the victory. Duke commit Tom McAneney and Mason McGovern added three goals and two assists each for Shawnee (16-4), which won its fourth sectional title in five years. Wyatt Tickner scored a pair of goals in the loss for Moorestown (11-9). Shawnee will face North champion Summit for the Group 3 state championship on Friday night at The College of New Jersey.

Ridgewood 10 Westfield 6 | Boys | North Jersey Group 4 Final

AJ LoSauro had five goals and an assist to lead the Maroons to knock off the two time defending state champions.  Ridgewood had a 7-6 lead at the end of three quarters and outscored the Blue Devils 3-0 in the fourth to claim the section title.  Ridgewood (17-5) will take on Southern Regional for the Group 4 state championship on Saturday at TCNJ.

Rumson-Fair Haven 9 Haddonfield 3 | Boys | South Jersey Group 1 Final

Blake Ahmann had a hat trick and the Bulldogs vaunted defense shutout a potent Haddonfield lineup for the second and third quarters to give RFH their third section title in the last five years.  Tied 2-2 after one, Rumson scored three times in the third to take a 5-2 halftime lead.  RFH lost 48 goal scorer Joseph Whitehouse to injury in the second but were able to fill in the gap with balanced scoring.  Rumson (18-6) is on a 13 game win streak will take on Mountain Lakes for the Group 1 state championship.
