The playoffs resume with sectional semifinal action, and JSZ had cameras at five great games!


North Brunswick 4 Monroe 3 | Central Group 4 Semifinal | Walk-Off

Rutgers commit Zack Konstantinovsky belted a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to help (2) North Brunswick advance to the Central Jersey Group 4 Championship with a thrilling 4-3 comeback victory over (6) Monroe. Oregon commit Harrison Lollin got the action started with a solo home run in the top of the first inning to give Monroe an early 1-0 lead, they would tack on two more runs in the top of the second. Zack Konstantinovsky countered his rough start on the mound for North Brunswick with an RBI in the second inning, he added a two run home run in the fifth to tie the game at 3-3 late. Konstantinovsky settled down to finish with nine strikeouts while going a perfect 4-4 in the batter’s box to accompany four RBI’s. The Raiders will take on (1) Old Bridge in the Championship.

Middletown North 5 Middletown South | Central Group 3 Semifinal

Zach Hampton had three hits and an RBI and went on the mound for the final three outs to help the Lions escape a bases-loaded jam in the 7th to return to the Central Jersey Group 3 championship.  Sophomore Aldo Casale came on as a defensive replacement at third base when Hampton went to the mound in relief of starter Gabe Alhemeyer.  With the bases loaded, Casale started a 5-4-3 double play to end the game and clinch the victory.  Dylan Briggs blasted a solo homer for the Lions who will host Lawrence on Friday in the Central Jersey Group 3 finals.

Morris Knolls 5 Ramapo 2 | North 1 Group 3 Semifinal

Ryan Iberer, the lone senior starter for the Golden Eagles, came up big in a few spots in Tuesday afternoon’s win. Iberer logged a two-run double and then pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning to help top-seeded Morris Knolls (18-10-1) head to their first sectional title game in 12 years. Luke Dickerson broke a school record by scoring his 40th run of the season, while Dylan Fitzsimmons and Brodie Frecker each knocked in runs. Brendan McHugh logged an RBI double for fourth-seeded Ramapo (16-12) in the loss. Morris Knolls will host No. 3 seed Montville in the sectional final on Friday.

Delsea 2 Cherry Hill West 1 | South Group 3 Semifinal

Ryan Harrison allowed just one hit in five innings of work to help lead defending SJG3 champ Delsea back to the sectional final. Zach Maxwell hit a solo home run in the victory for the second-seeded Crusaders (20-6), while George Starr earned the save on the mound. Nick Mirarchi had an RBI single for the third-seeded Lions (18-8) in the loss. Delsea will host ninth-seeded Mainland in the title game on Friday.

Rancocas Valley 6 Cherokee 4 | South Group 4 Semifinal

The Red Devils booked a trip to their first sectional title game since 2014 after knocking off the defending champion Chiefs on the road. Brady Bartletta’s two RBI single in the fifth inning proved to be the difference as the Stockton soccer commit drove in three runs in the win. Matt Hewitt shut the door with a four-out save for fifth-seeded Rancocas Valley (16-11). Navy commit Evan Brown smashed a two-run home run in the loss for top-seed Cherokee (21-7). RV will face eleven-seed Eastern for the SJ Group 4 title on Friday.
