Jonathan Lee threw six shutout innings striking out eight and giving up just two hits and the Bees busted open a scoreless game with three runs in the fifth inning followed by an insurance run in the sixth to get to 14-1 on the season. Pope John 5 Delbarton 4

On a team filled with seasoned upper-echelon hitters, it was sophomore Nate Pallotta who came through with Pope John’s biggest hit of the day. With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Pallotta snared a liner to right-center that dropped in and gave the Lions a walk-off win. Steinert 2 Hopewell Valley 1

As county tournament time is right around the corner, 10-4-1 Steinert and 9-4 Hopewell Valley squared off in a Colonial Valley Conference matchup competing for second place in their division. A scoreless game was busted open in the top of the sixth when Hopewell’s Jack Haynes drove in a run to help the Bulldogs go up 1-0. Steinert entered the bottom of the seventh hot as CJ Pittaro started things with a lead-off double. Pinch hitter Josh James would drive in Pittaro to tie it up, then brother Michael James led the Spartans to victory with a walk-off single. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights:
