North Brunswick 1 Monroe 0

No. 7 North Brunswick improves to 3-1 following a close 1-0 victory over Monroe. An RBI single from Chris Rosario gave the Raiders a 1-0 in the top of the second for the game’s only score. The afternoon was headlined by two of the area’s top pitching talents as junior Oregon commit Harrison Lollin finished the afternoon with four hits and one earned run allowed and 11 strikeouts for Monroe. Rutgers commit Zach Konstantinovsky threw his second shut out of the season, allowing just one hit in the process.

Eastern 7 Cherry Hill West 4

Cade Michalski pitched a strong 6+ innings to help the Vikings knock off the Lions on the road. Pat Karbach, Caleb Hahm and Rich Iulucci all drove in two runs apiece for Eastern (4-2) in the victory. Nick Mirarchi drove in three runs for West (1-1) in the loss.

Old Bridge 10 Ferris 4

Thomas Papeo went 3-4 with 2 RBI and was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle in a resounding win over the Bulldogs. Old Bridge (4-1) worked 10 walks and eight hits to get past Ferris (3-3). Akhil Penkala hit a two-run single and then struck out six batters over three innings of relief. Chris Villavicencio led the way for Ferris with a towering two-run home run.

Ocean 2 Matawan 1

Matt King threw a complete game with nine strikeouts and Shane Garrett drove in both runs to give the Spartans a fifth straight win to start the season.  Garrett hit a homer to right in the bottom of the first and worked a bases-loaded walk in the 6th to plate the game-winning run.

Kingsway 3 Triton 0

Binghamton commit Tommy Popoff broke a scoreless tie with a solo home run as the Dragons open their 2023 campaign with a win over the Mustangs. Evan Mangifesta provided some insurance with a two RBI single in the victory. Ryan Gollon and DJ Juliano combined for a shutout on the mound for Kingsway (1-0). Rich Paglia scattered nine hits over six innings in the loss for Triton (0-4).
