Westwood boys basketball will play in their first sectional final since 2017 after the 3-seed Cardinals defeated 2-seed Jefferson 57-49 in Tuesday’s North 1 Group 2 semifinal. Despite the Cardinals holding a lead for a majority of the action, the Falcons kept it close, down just 3 heading into the fourth quarter. It would still be a 3-point game with one minute to go in regulation, but Jack Walsh hit two key buckets late to give Westwood the necessary pad to take home the win.
Annechini was tied for the game’s high scorer with 18 points along with his teammate Joe Ceritelli. Senior center John Campbell led the way for the Falcons with 17 points.
Westwood will now play at top-seed Ramsey in Friday’s N1G2 final.
