Medford Tech 66 Burlington City 64 | Boys | Burlington County Tournament 1st Round

Tre Powell poured in a game-high 32 points, to lead the eighth-seeded Jaguars to victory in a tight battle with the ninth-seeded Blue Devils. Nesta Rice added 11 points in the win for Med Tech (14-11), which advances to face top-seeded Lenape in the quarterfinals of the inaugural Burlington County Tournament. Aaron Young scored a team-high 18 points for City (12-9) in the loss.

Matawan 58 Colts Neck 44 | Boys | Shore Conference Tournament 1st Round

Jayden Elijah had a monster game with 17 points, 21 rebounds, and five blocked shots to lead the #23 seed into the Shore Conference Tournament round of 16 with an upset of the 10th seed.  The Cougars were without their top two scorers and the Huskies were able to put together an 8-0 run to close the first half to take a 26-15 halftime lead. Amir Martinez had 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists and Colin Haluksa added 12.  Matawan will face #7 seed CBA in the second round on Thursday.

Red Bank Catholic 72 Donovan Catholic 68 | Boys | Shore Conference Tournament 1st Round

Ryan Prior sank seven three-pointers on the way to a career-high 27 points and the 13th-seeded Caseys held off a valiant comeback attempt by the Griffins to advance to the Round of 16 in the Shore Conference Tournament.  Prior’s seventh three-pointer gave RBC a 16 point lead late in the third quarter before the Griffins stormed back with a 13-0 run to close the third quarter.  Peter Ferlekas had a career-high 30 points for Donovan Catholic.  Prior made two free throws in the closing seconds and the Griffins missed a three-pointer to force overtime.  RBC will face 4th seed Raritan this Thursday in the second round.

Rutgers Prep 72 Ewing 49 | Girls

No. 4 Rutgers Prep (16-3) defeated No. 7 Ewing (21-3) 72-49 to pick up a tenth straight win. Ewing led 9-2 to begin the first quarter, but Rutgers Prep quickly went up by 10 and eventually closed out leading 21-16. The Argonauts pushed the deficit to 44-26 by halftime. Rhode Island commit Katie Ledden finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds while four star junior Mikayla Blakes had 28.
