Tournament season is underway around most of the Garden State as JSZ brings you first round action from the Shore Conference tournament, and a quarterfinal battle from the Prep “B” tournament. Plus, Egg Harbor Township looks to extend a 12-match unbeaten streak in a Cape-Atlantic League battle with Ocean City. Check back as the highlights are posted throughout the night!
Brick Township 2 Long Branch 1 | Boys | Shore Conference Tournament First Round
Carl Loffredo scored his 13th goal of the season to draw the Dragons level and drew a PK in the final seconds of the first half that set up Gianno Godenzi’s game winner to give Brick Township (10-3) a spot in the Round of 16 in the Shore Conference Tournament. Long Branch (10-3-1) took the lead in the 7th minute on a Mattheus Lopes goal before Loffredo responded less than six minutes later. The Green Wave had a furious flurry of offense in the final ten minutes looking to draw the match level but Brick Township keeper Devin Baldwin made a huge save on a close range shot and a Green Dragons wall absorbed an indrect kick inside of 10 yards to preserve the win. Brick Township will face second seed Colts Neck in the second round.

Princeton Day 5 Rutgers Prep 1 | Boys | Prep “B” Tournament Quarterfinal
It was a big day for the Panthers as they notched their highest goal total of the season, two players scoring twice, and the team advancing in the Prep “B” Tournament. Kriss Makkar (2, 3) and Keegan Fullman (7, 8) each found the back of the net twice. Fullman also recorded three assists, playing a role in all five of the Panthers goals. Fourth-seeded Princeton Day (7-6) earn a first-round win over Rutgers Prep (3-11) and will move on to face top-seeded Montclair Kimberley in the semifinals.

Egg Harbor Twp. 3 Ocean City 1 | Boys
The Eagles picked up another quality victory to sweep the regular season series with the Red Raiders and extend their unbeaten streak to 13 matches. Joshua Reyes scored less than 90 seconds into regulation to get things started in the victory. Chase Barnhart and Lenart Redzepi added goals for Egg Harbor Twp. (10-1-3). Colin James netted his first career goal in the loss for Ocean City (9-5). Both teams now await their fate with the CAL Tournament and South Jersey Coaches’ Cup brackets set to be released later this week.
