JSZ’s Tuesday soccer coverage has a pair of big boys’ matchups on opposite ends of the state. We’ll have highlights from Notre Dame’s thrilling double-OT win along with a North/South battle in Union County.
Notre Dame 2 Hopewell Valley 1 (2OT)
Tuesday’s much anticipated Colonial Valley Conference matchup between Notre Dame and Hopewell Valley more than lived up to expectations. Both teams entered 8-2 and after one half of play there would be no score. Bordentown transfer Aiden Hoenisch would draw first blood for the Irish at the 50’ mark before Hopewell countered to tie it approaching the end of regulation. In double overtime Danny Bensch would find net for Notre Dame to bring home a W on a golden goal. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights:

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 2 Delran 1
It always like Delran is playing big games considering how tough their schedule is. The Bears hit their second speed bump of 2019 after suffering a 2-1 loss to Union County power Scotch Plains-Fanwood. The Raiders found the net twice in under 30 seconds in the second half to build a wide enough margin and secure victory.
