The first Tuesday of 2026 delivers some monster matchups in the basketball world. Red Bank Catholic and St. John Vianney face off in a showdown between the #1 and #2 girls basketball teams in New Jersey. Meanwhile, another chapter of the Bergen Catholic-Don Bosco Prep rivalry is in the books, and Hopewell Valley squared off against Princeton Day in CVC action. Red Bank Catholic 62 St. John Vianney 51 | Girls

Addy Nyemchek was sensational scoring 22 points including a nine point third quarter that helped give RBC a lead and Katie Liggio scored 13 of her 15 in the second half to give the Caseys (7-1) round one of what could be four matchups with archrival SJV.  Tied 22-22 at the half, Nyemchek scored the first five points of the third quarter and Katie Liggio hit a pair of three pointers to give RBC a 41-35 lead through three quarters.  The Lancers (6-1) were paced by Madison Kocis who scored 17 and reached the 1,000 point mark in her high school career.

Bergen Catholic 60 Don Bosco Prep 36 | Boys

Julius Avent scored 16 and Sean Forbes added a dozen as the Crusaders continue to dominate early in the 2025-26 season.  The Crusaders are now 7-1 after winning their home opener against their archrival.

Hopewell Valley 38 Princeton Day 32 | Boys

Ty Becker led the way for the Bulldogs with a game-high 16 points. The senior was the only Bulldog in double figures, recording his fourth double-figure game of the season. Hopewell Valley (5-2) earned their first road win at Princeton Day (4-3) in more than 15 years.
