Bayonne 6 Woodbridge 4 | North 2 Group 4 Opening Round

The Bees are the reigning champions in this section, but are faced with a different road to the final this year. Eleventh-seeded Bayonne (13-13) went on the road and orchestrated a first round upset as two of the state’s top public school aces clashed. Bayonne’s Nolan Geisler out-dueled sixth-seeded Woodbridge’s Eddy Nunez to earn the win. Trailing 2-0 in the fifth inning, Bayonne’s bats came alive and the Bees exploded for six runs and they’d never look back from there. Geisler tossed six solid innings with eight strikeouts, along with his 200th career punch out coming along the way. Bayonne advances to face No. 3 seed Ridge in the quarterfinal round next week.
