Old Bridge 8 Monroe 2
It’s never a dull moment when Greater Middlesex Conference rivals Old Bridge and Monroe get together. Thursday’s matchup saw the Knights hand Monroe their first loss of the season. OB got things started at the plate early putting up five runs in the first inning. Both teams would trade blows in the fourth and fifth inning each adding two runs. However thanks to a complete game pitching performance from Matt Baker who allowed just five hits, two earned runs and served up six strikeouts Old Bridge was able to maintain their composure. Elliot Hayward and Mike Oliva would also go 2-4 on the day with Oliva adding an RBI. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights:

St. Augustine 4 Vineland 2
Cole Vanderslice scattered three hits over six-plus innings of work to earn the win for the Hermits. Rob Ready crushed a two-run homer to pace the offense. Kevin Foreman went 2-3 and scored a pair of runs for St. Augustine. David Hunsberger had an RBI single for the Fighting Clan in the loss.
