We have two big girls soccer games for you from a crisp Thursday evening in the Garden State, both of which needed overtime! We start up north with a rivalry clash between No. 6 Westfield and Scotch Plains-Fanwood, and then we head south for a CVC battle between Steinert and Notre Dame. Check out the action below!
Scotch Plains-Fanwood 1 Westfield 1 (2OT) | Girls
No. 6 Westfield (10-0-2) and Scotch Plains-Fanwood (9-0-1) girls soccer needed all 100 minutes on Thursday night as the two arch-rivals drew 1-1 in a battle of unbeatens. SPF freshman Sophia Sedransk scored the Raiders’ goal and the first of her career in the 28th minute. It stayed scoreless all the way to the 76th where Westfield freshman Gillian Vega scored to tie it and send the game to overtime. Raiders goalie Kendall Kelly and the Westfield defense were stellar throughout the 20 minutes to keep things deadlocked.
