Holmdel High School hosted the Coach’s Choice Showcase featuring some of the top teams in New Jersey. JSZ brings you two huge showdowns. Trenton Catholic makes it 10 straight wins after a big fourth quarter against Manchester plus Rutgers Prep delivers an upset knocking off 2nd ranked Red Bank Catholic. Plus, we head to South Jersey for Ocean City’s win at the 97.3 ESPN Girls Shootout.


Trenton Catholic 71 Manchester Twp. 61 | Coach’s Choice Showcase

Freshman Zoe Brooks scored 17 points and sparked an 8-1 fourth-quarter run that gave the Iron Mikes their 10th straight win and a 15-1 mark. Gianna Hernandez-Boulden led Trenton Catholic with 19 and Maniya Custis added 15. Manchester’s Destiny Adams was a force with 20 points and 23 rebounds in the loss. Rutgers Prep 47 Red Bank Catholic 41 | Coach’s Choice Showcase

Kaylie Favours scored 14 of her 17 points in the second half as the Argonauts upset the #2 ranked team in the latest state polls. RBC raced out to a 15-4 lead at the end of one quarter behind sophomore Justine Pissott who led all scorers with 20 points. The Argonauts closed the gap to five at the half and tied the game at 33 heading into the fourth quarter. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the highlights from Holmdel:

Ocean City 51 Mainland 49 | 97.3 ESPN Girls Shootout

The Red Raiders continued their red-hot January with a wire-to-wire victory over rival Mainland to close out the 97.3 ESPN Girls Shootout at Ocean City High School. Marin Panico poured in a team-high 18 points, including back-to-back three pointers late in the third to push the Ocean City lead to twelve. McDonalds All-American Kylee Watson led a valiant comeback attempt and finished with a game-high 22 points in the loss.
