The 2023 Campanile Bowl featured the two-reigning Non-Public state champions going to battle. Bergen Catholic (5-1) continued to cement its spot as the state’s No. 1 ranked program thanks to a balanced offensive attack and a rousing defensive performance. The Crusaders forced three turnovers and limited the DePaul Catholic (2-3) rushing attack to just 2.1 yards per carry. Mujahid Russell, Quincy Porter, Kaj Sanders and Luca Cuttita all found the end zone for the Crusaders. The Spartans went down 17-0 at the half – Elijah Burress had 115 yards and a touchdown reception in the loss.
