It’s championship Saturday on the diamond! We’ve got three big title games that will be posted throughout the day.

Red Bank Catholic 4 St. Joe-Metuchen 1 | Non-Public A South Final

Sean Griggs scored on a passed ball to break a 1-1 tie and spark a three-run sixth inning and give the Caseys its first section championship since 1997.  Alex Stanyek pitched 6.1 innings giving up just one run in the top of the first with nine strikeouts and giving up just three hits.  The Caseys will take on Don Bosco Prep for the Non-Public A state championship this Thursday.

Don Bosco Prep 2 Bergen Catholic 1 (8 Innings) | Non-Public A North Final

Don Bosco raises their second consecutive Non-Public “A” North Championship following their 2-1 victory over rival Bergen Catholic in eight innings. A wild pitch in the dirt with the bases loaded from Bergen Catholic pitcher Jack Duffy would put the first run of the afternoon on the board in the top of the seventh. The Crusaders would tie the game on a fielder’s choice from Fairfield commit Aidan Bagliano in the bottom of the seventh. The Ironmen would return the favor in the top of the eighth with an RBI on a fielder’s choice from Fairfield commit Andy Granatell. Don Bosco advances to take on Red Bank Catholic.

Tyler Bunting went 2-2 with two RBIs, while Damon Suriani went 3-3 with an RBI in the victory. Duke commit AJ Gracia hit a solo home run for Ranney (27-3) in the loss.
