The final day of the 2023 boys lacrosse season did not disappoint. Delbarton battled Seton Hall Prep into triple overtime for one of the state’s all-time great games and Gill St. Bernard’s emerged with their first-ever state title. We’ll have coverage from both contests tonight – stay tuned!

Delbarton 10 Seton Hall Prep 9 (3 OT) | Boys | Non-Public A Final

Nick Faccone said he couldn’t sleep Friday night because he kept thinking about what would happen if the state final came down to him. Well, that’s exactly what happened – and the result was better than he ever could have dreamed. Faccone won the opening face-off in triple overtime, raced down the field and scored the game-winning goal to power Delbarton (20-5) to the program’s 18th state championship before a capacity crowd of over 2,000 fans. The game was tied at four at halftime, but Seton Hall Prep (19-2) came out at a frenetic pace and led 8-4 at the end of the third quarter. Delbarton scored five of the next six goals, highlighted by Asher Testa’s game-tying goal with 2.3 seconds left to force overtime.

Princeton Day (15-7) held a 5-4 lead at intermission while Harry Bernardi notched a game-high four goals in the loss.
