Championship season is here and the JSZ team has some great Saturday action. Check out the Essex and Union County finals plus one of the top girls programs in the state stays unbeaten!

Caldwell 4 Seton Hall Prep 3 | Essex County Tournament Final | Boys

The Pirates had to stave off the upset-minded Chiefs to win the program’s tenth-straight county championship. Tyler Juhlin broke a 3-3 tie with 4:31 left in regulation with the eventual game-winning goal, lifting top-seeded and undefeated Seton Hall Prep (14-0) to the win. Brad Schuster paced the offense with the Pirates’ other three goals. Third-seeded Caldwell (7-6) undoubtedly delivered their best performance of the year, despite it coming in a loss. Goalie Landon Pini made 14 saves – 10 coming in the first half – to give Caldwell a legit chance to win the tournament.

JSZ’s Jay Cook has the highlights and reaction from a great game in Livingston:

Summit 10 Westfield 9 | Union County Tournament Final | Boys

No. 10 Summit defeated No. 8 Westfield 10-9 to capture a fifth consecutive Union County Tournament Championship. Summit led 8-4 at halftime, but Westfield with four unanswered goals late in regulation would see the deficit cut to 9-8 in the fourth. However, despite a four goal performance from Cornell commit Ryan Waldman, the Blue Devils would fall short of forcing overtime. Lucas Stocks, Daniel Flaim, James Grainger and Sean McCeney all finished with two goals for the Hilltoppers as they claim their fifteenth overall UCT Title.

Oak Knoll 11 Summit 9 | Union County Tournament Final | Girls

The Royals led 6-4 at halftime, Summit would tie the game twice in the second half but was unable to take the lead late as senior Darby Campbell netted three goals to accompany three assists. Yale commit Lily Spinner had four goals for Summit. Oak Knoll gets revenge from a loss between the two from earlier in the season as well as last year’s Tournament of Champions Final.
