Saturday featured a number of big games across the state, and JSZ was there with cameras to bring you all of the action!


St. Peter’s Prep 73 Hudson Catholic 67 | Boys | Hudson County Tournament Final

The Marauders outlasted the Hawks in overtime to win a second-straight Hudson County Tournament championship in another instant classic between these rivals. Peyton Miller and Richie Rosa played big roles down the stretch, scoring 18 and 16 points respectively for top-seeded St. Peter’s Prep (24-2). Auburn commit Tahaad Pettiford forced overtime for Hudson Catholic (19-8), scoring nine of his game-high 24 points in the final two minutes of regulation.

Pennington 60 Hopewell Valley 51 | Mercer County Tournament Final

(2) Pennington defeated (1) Hopewell Valley 60-51 for their first Mercer County Tournament Championship since 2010. A tight back and forth battle throughout the evening would see Pennington pull away late in the fourth quarter as Destine Evansand and Jordan Owusu each had 12 points, Jordan Moton had 11 and Kae Kilic earned MVP honors with 9 points. The Red Hawks got the job done under Head Coach Chandler Fraser Pauls who was the point guard on the 2009 and 2010 teams that last won County Titles for Pennington.

Ewing 67 Trenton Catholic 45 | Girls | Mercer County Tournament Final

(1) Ewing made history by winning the program’s third straight Mercer County Tournament Title following a 67-45 victory over (3) Trenton Catholic. The Blue Devils maintained a comfortable lead throughout the contest as Michigan commit Te’Yala Delfosse earned MVP honors for her 23 points, St. Joe’s commit Rhian Stokes finished with 22 points while Fairleigh Dickinson commit Joi Johnson had 13.

Middle Twp. 61 Mainland 45 | Boys | Cape-Atlantic League Tournament Final

The Panthers raced out to a 12-point lead after the first quarter and never looked back, capturing their first CAL title since 1998. Jamir McNeil scored 13 points stuffed the stat sheet to earn MVP honors. Anthony Trombetta scored 14 points in the win, while Michael Zarfati scored 13 for Middle (25-2). Cohen Cook and Jamie Tyson scored 14 points apiece for the Mustangs (22-6) in the loss.
