Holiday tournaments around the state begin to wind down Saturday as championship trophies are handed out in Newark and Manahawkin. Highlights from those two games and three more big ones round out our coverage tonight. Stay tuned as the highlights roll in!


Arts 73 Weequahic 38 | Boys | Newark Public Schools Holiday Tournament Final

The Jaguars’ physical brand of basketball was on full display as they rolled by the Indians to win their second-straight tournament title. Kareem Anthony buried a game-high 19 points while Shelton Cowell had a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double in the win for Arts (6-1). Weequahic (4-2) reached the final despite beginning the tournament as a long-shot 10th seed.

Lenape 65 Southern 47 | Boys | 2024 Score at the Shore Tournament Final

Mehki Carter dropped a game-high 23 points and earned MVP honors as the Indians win the Score at the Shore title for the fourth time since 2019. Tyree Thorp went for 13 points, while Nolan Barnes added 11 points in the victory for top-seeded Lenape (3-2). Jake Sliwinski had a team-high 21 points in the loss for second-seeded Southern (3-2).

South River 79 Henry Hudson 66 | Boys | Admiral Classic Final

Alex Grospe delivered a career high 46 points to go along with 7 assists and 5 steals to give the Rams a win at Henry Hudson’s four team tournament.  Grospe led New Jersey in scoring last year and was on fire with 21 points in the first half, followed by 25 more in the second which included 15 of 18 from the free throw line and three 3-pointers.

St. Augustine 52 KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy 30 | Boys | Boardwalk Basketball Classic

The Hermits trailed by double digits early, but dominated the rest of the way to beat the Titans in Wildwood. Rory Friel led the way with a game-high 21 points for St. Augustine (2-3), while Jaleo Wakefield chipped in with 12 points. Jeremiah Shelton scored 10 points for KIPP (3-1) in the loss.

Pennington 70 Middle Township 55 | Boys | Boardwalk Basketball Classic

Dylan Napoleon led the way with 22 points to give Pennington a Saturday night win in Wildwood.  Kae Kilic sank five three-pointers and finished with 16 and Jordan Owusu added 12.
