Colonia 46 St. Peter’s Prep 40 | Boys | NJBCA Tip Off Classic

Aiden Derkack used a game-high 23 points to guide the Patriots to a massive opening-night upset win. Colonia (1-0) got past a slsow start in the first quarter to tie the game at halftime and eventually pull away late. Keiner Asprilla, a 7’1 transfer from Don Bosco Prep, led St. Peters’ Prep (0-1) with a team-high 18 points in the loss. Both teams will be recognized as Top 20 programs heading into the first full week of the new season.

Manasquan 64 Rutgers Prep 61 (OT) | Boys | NJBCA Tip Off Classic

Matteo Chiarella sank a shot beyond half court at the buzzer to give the Warriors an overtime win over a talented Rutgers Prep squad.  Manasquan had a buzzer beater taken away from them in the state playoffs against Camden that became a national controversy.  This time the buzzer beater counted.  Manasquan was paced by Ray Weinseimer’s 26 points including a three-pointer that tied the game 61-61 in overtime.  Rutgers Prep had four players in double digits with Myles Parker forcing overtime with an offensive rebound and putback in the closing seconds of regulation.

Lindenwold 57 Glassboro 51 | Boys | 2024 Red Devil Classic

The Lions built a 21-point halftime lead, but fended off a second half surge from the Bulldogs to grab a season-opening victory. CJ Matthews poured in a team-high 17 points to lead the way and earn MVP honors for Lindenwold (1-0). Xavier Sabb scored nine points in the third quarter on his way to a game-high 21 points in the loss for Glassboro (0-1).

Saddle River Day 68 Ranney 63 | Girls | Non-Conference

Brooke Baen had 20 points and Faith Williamson scored her 1000th career point on the way to a 16 point effort as the Rebels rally from double digits down in the first half to open the season with a quality road win.  Haley Poser led all scorers with 25 points in a losing effort for Ranney, who led 25-15 after one quarter and had a 37-26 lead before Saddle River Day closed the first half on an 8-0 run.
