Opening weekend of the state playoffs continues with plenty of highlights! Check back throughout the day as the action is posted!


Delbarton 24 St. Joe’s (Mont.) 21 | Super Football Conference

The Green Wave proved through and through they’re one of the best football programs in the entire state with a massive win on Saturday. Austin Quandt’s go-ahead 50-yard pick-six in the fourth quarter lifted Delbarton (8-1) past the Green Knights, closing out one of the best regular seasons in Green Wave history. Philip Folmar came through multiple times and ended the game with 11 catches for 142 yards and one touchdown catch. St. Joe’s (6-3) led 21-10 in the third quarter before Delbarton stormed back in. With the win, the Green Wave likely secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Non-Public A state tournament.

Marlboro 26 South Brunswick 16 | South Jersey Group 5 1st Round

Matt Cassidy had 15 carries for 123 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Mustangs in the second round of the state playoffs for a second straight year.  The Mustangs fell behind early 8-0 before Cassidy made it an 8-6 game with a 40-yard TD run.  His second TD came late in the first half and his third quarter score made it a 19-8 game.  South Brunswick got a pair of TD runs from QB Braden Paulmenn in a losing effort.  Marlboro will travel to Hillsborough in the South Jersey Group 5 semifinals.

Westfield 36 Clifton 0 | North 2 Group 5 First 1st Round

(4) Westfield (5-4) advanced to the North 2, Group 5 Semifinals with a 36-0 victory over (5) Clifton (3-7). Quarterback Maxwell Cho tossed three touchdown passes in the first half to give the Blue Devils a 26-0 at the midway point. Cho finished 11-14 passing for 173 yards. Westfield advances to take on (1) Phillipsburg (8-1).

Camden 27 Carteret 7 | Central Jersey Group 3 1st Round

The Panthers started fast and never looked back as they knocked off the Ramblers to begin their quest for a second-straight sectional title. Syracuse commit opened the game with a kickoff return touchdown as the Panthers jumped out to an early 13-0 lead. Azir Lee had a pair of interceptions in the win for third-seeded Camden (8-1). Tyrece Parrott ran for a touchdown in the loss for sixth-seeded Carteret (7-3). Camden will travel to face second-seeded Holmdel in the sectional semifinals next week.

Woodbury 40 Riverside 8 | South Jersey Group 1 1st Round

Woodbury is the defending state champion, and the third-seeded Thundering Herd flexed its muscle to open the postseason. Ibn Muhammed led the way with two touchdown catches and an interception return for a TD. Jayden Johnson threw three TD passes in the win for Woodbury (5-3), while Marquis Taylor had a touchdown catch and a kickoff return for a score. Wilson Torres added a 95-yard punt return for a TD as well. John Boston rushed for over 130 yards for sixth-seeded Riverside (6-2) in the loss.
