St. Augustine 60 Holy Spirit 53 (OT) | Boys

The Hermits outlasted the Spartans in overtime to win their season-opener. American University commit Matt Delaney led the way with 18 points and ten rebounds in the win. John Horner and Keith Palek added 16 points and 13 points respectively. Jahmir Smith dropped a game-high 26 for Spirit (1-2) in the loss.

South Brunswick 55 Edison 53 | Boys

Reigning Central Group 4 champion South Brunswick (2-0) picked up its second win of the season with a close 55-53 victory over Edison (2-1). The Eagles, trailing all game long, were able to tie it late in the fourth quarter. South Brunswick got a boost from Kalani Antoine though, and was able to hold off the Eagles. Antoine finished with 19 points, including five three-pointers.

North Brunswick 57 Iselin Kennedy 42 | Boys

North Brunswick (2-1) defeated Iselin Kennedy (1-2) 57-42 thanks to a standout performance from Senior Jabri Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick ended the afternoon with 17 points.

Paul VI 56 West Orange 39 | Girls

After traveling over 90 miles for their season-opener, Paul VI did not miss a beat in securing win No. 1 on the year. Hannah Hidalgo was a menace on offense and defense while leading the Eagles with 17 points. West Orange was paced by Yale commit Kiley Capstraw, who delivered a game-high 26 points in the loss.

Rutgers Prep 83 Montgomery 19 | Girls

The Skyland Conference matchup was lopsided from the start. Rutgers Prep proved why it’s one of the top teams in the Garden State, going up big early and not easing off the gas. The Argonauts scored in abundance from behind the arc, making 13 three-point shots and menacing the Cougars on the defensive end with 14 steals. Belle Pellecchia led the way for Rutgers Prep with 13 points and 5 assists while Christina Dalce compiled a 13 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.
