It’s a showcase Saturday of New Jersey high school basketball. We’ve got highlights from two great games at the Men’s X Mental Health Showcase at Red Bank Regional as well as a big showdown at the Jeff Coney Classic.
Union Catholic 62 St. Rose 59 (OT) | Boys | Mens X Mental Health Showcase
AJ Altobelli guided the Vikings from scorching scoring streaks and out of a major lull to secure a major win over the reigning Non-Public B state champions. Altobelli’s led the way with a team-high 19 points as Union Catholic (10-4) outlasted the Purple Roses in overtime. Star junior Jayden Hodge carried the load for St. Rose (11-5), who saw a season-long six-game win streak come to an end.

CBA 51 Red Bank Regional 49 | Boys | Mens X Mental Health Showcase
Sophomore David Buley’s putback with 3.5 seconds left broke a 49-49 tie to give CBA a seventh straight win. The Colts had a six point lead after three quarters before Red Bank Regional went on an 11-0 run to start the fourth quarter. Zayier Dean made a pair of three-pointers during that run to make it a 44-39 RBR lead. Justin Fuehrbacher helped the Colts claw back. Dean made a three-pointer in the final minute to tie the game 49-49 setting the stage for the final seconds. Dean had a chance to win it at the buzzer but his three-point attempt fell short. CBA improves to 12-3 while RBR falls to 14-2 on the season.

Camden Catholic 66 Montgomery 57 | Boys | Jeff Coney Classic
The Irish closed out the 2025 Jeff Coney Classic by using a balanced attack to take down the ninth-ranked Cougars. Seamus Bieg scored 11 points in the second quarter to help the Irish take control as the junior went for a team-high 22 points. Luke Kennevan added 15 points, while Bryce Clark and Azyris Richmond went for 14 and 11 points respectively for Camden Catholic (11-3). Ethan Lin poured in a game-high 29 points in the loss for Montgomery (12-3).
