A new week begins in high school soccer as JSZ brings you three great matchups from around the Garden State, including a wild finish between Scotch Plains-Fanwood and Montclair! Check back as the highlights are posted throughout the night!
Scotch Plains-Fanwood 3 Montclair 2 (OT) | Boys
A huge early season showdown between two legit state championship contenders went down to the wire and delivered as a great game. Taso Pavlou, a freshman, came through in the 82nd minute to battle and score a golden goal in a statement Raiders’ win. Scotch Plains-Fanwood (3-0) also got a standout, two-goal performance from Jayvon Young. Montclair (0-2) scored both of their goals on penalty kicks – one coming in the first half, the other late in the second half.

Southern 8 Shore Regional 0 | Boys
The Rams unleashed a barrage against the reigning Group 1 state champion Blue Devils on their way to an impressive victory early in the season. Aidan Donnelly and Kaan Zenger scored two goals each as part of a five-goal outburst by the Rams in the first half. Brody Nacarlo, Brody Reynolds, Joao Almeida, and Jeff Rubi Cruz added goals in the victory.

Cherokee 0 Princeton 0 | Boys
The Tigers and Chiefs both enter this game undefeated so far in the 2024 season, with Princeton 1-0 and Cherokee 2-0. This game was back-and-forth from the start, with both teams having multiple opportunities on net but no score after regulation time. The defenses for Princeton and Cherokee went after it, but after a double overtime battle they left with a 0-0 tie score. Cole Butler was the standout of this game. The Junior goalkeeper had nine saves for his third shutout of this season. Butler already has 26 saves in just three games of action.
