We begin a new week with some exciting action on the diamond!

Cedar Creek 12 Hammonton 11 (10 innings)

The Pirates trailed 4-0 early, before seeing an 11-5 lead slip away, only to walk off with a win in extra innings. Anthony Letizia’s squeeze bunt with the bases loaded in the 10th sent Creek home with a victory. Richie Gonzales went 3-4 at the plate with an RBI in the win, while Jerry McGowan had a clutch pinch-hit 2-RBI double for the Pirates (3-2). Gavin West went 3-4 with three RBIs for the Blue Devils (2-2) in the loss.

JSZ’s Mike Frankel has the highlights from a marathon in Egg Harbor City:

St. Joe’s (Mont.) 6 Don Bosco Prep 3

The Green Knights plated all six runs in the third and fourth innings and never looked back to score their first major win of the 2023 season. Ryan Foody hit an RBI triple then scored on an error, and Felix Gonzalez blasted a solo home run in the win. St. Joe’s Mont. (2-2) rebounded after two tough losses to Morris Knolls and Bridgewater-Raritan last week. Don Bosco (1-1) had all their offense come from a three-run home run via Virginia commit Eric Becker.

JSZ’s Jay Cook has the highlights + reaction from Ramsey:

West Windsor-Plainsboro South 9 South Brunswick 8

West Windsor-Plainsboro South improves to 3-1 following a 9-8 win over South Brunswick. South trailed 7-3 entering the sixth inning when a passed ball at home plate and a sac fly to left cut the lead to 7-5. A two RBI triple from Devin Singh would then tie the game, an RBI single from Kai Hanson gave the Pirates the lead.  Bennett Seigel tacked on another run for South in the seventh inning. South Brunswick scored on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the seventh, but fell just short of forcing extra innings. Bennett Siegel went 3-5 with two RBI’s.
