Before the holiday festivities kick off, Jersey Sports Zone has you covered with exciting basketball action from across the Garden State and even in New York City, too!

The Patrick School 72 Roselle Catholic 64 | 2019 Kyrie Invitational

The stars were aligned for one of the most high-profile debuts in recent memory surrounding New Jersey high school basketball. Jonathon Kuminga, the No. 1 ranked prospect in the Class of 2021, made his much-anticipated first appearance with the Celtics after a judge ordered a “stay” on the case surrounding his eligibility this season.

Kuminga put up 20 points in his debut while former St. Patrick’s star and current Brooklyn Net Kyrie Irving watched from center court.

JSZ’s Jay Cook has the highlights from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn:

Camden 71 Cherokee 35

The High is absolutely loaded with talent this year, as the Panthers hope to end a 20-year state title drought. They power past the Chiefs thanks to 15 points from freshman phenom D.J. Wagner, 13 points from Kentucky commit Lance Ware, and 11 points from TaQuan Woodley.

We’ll have plenty of Camden coverage all season long thanks to Cooper University Health Care.

Hightstown 67 South Brunswick 50

With both Hightstown and South Brunswick dominating in their season openers, the Colonial Valley/Greater Middlesex Conference crossover matchup was highly anticipated by Central Jersey basketball fans. South Brunswick held onto a slim 12-11 lead after the first quarter, but the Rams offense got hot, going up by as many as 17 points by the fourth. Ben Simon would finish with 29 points for Hightstown. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights:
