Girls sectional titles were on the line across the state on Monday, and JSZ has plenty of highlights!


Brick Memorial 2 Middletown South 1 (2OT) | Central Jersey Group 3 Final

After losing to the Eagles in last year’s sectional final, the Mustangs got their long-awaited revenge. Chloe Gellisi scored the golden goal in double overtime to lift third-seeded Brick Memorial (15-4-1) to the victory. In fact, Gellisi scored both goals for her Mustangs in the win. Top-seeded Middletown South (15-4-1) scored their lone goal in the second half.

Shawnee 3 Ocean City 2 (OT) | South Group 3 Final

Freshman Caitlin Olkowski scored the golden goal in overtime to lift the Renegades to a sectional title. Madison Zaun and Makenzie McCready also scored goals in the victory for second-seeded Shawnee (18-2-1). Brooke Liebrand and Ashley Rhodes scored goals for top-seeded OC (21-2) in the loss.

Westfield 1 Hunterdon Central 0 | North 2 Group 4 Final

(1) Westfield (16-1) claimed their second North 2, Group 4 Championship since 2021 with a 1-0 victory over (2) Hunterdon Central (16-3-2). Ella Cadigan assisted sister Emilie Cadigan for the game’s only score just five minutes into regulation. Hunterdon Central would get a Penalty Kick opportunity late in the first half, but a stop from sophomore goalie Sofia Buoscio would keep the contest at 1-0 entering halftime. Buoscio finished with three saves as the Blue Devils get their fifth consecutive shut out.

Central Regional 1 Kingsway 0 | South Group 4 Final

Arianna Chidiac delivered her biggest goal of the season so far as she scored with 25 seconds left in regulation to give the Golden Eagles their first sectional title in program history. Binghamton commit Erika Kangas had four saves in net as second-seeded Central Regional (19-1) picked up its 11th one-goal victory of the season. MacKenzie Barry finished with nine saves in the loss for fourth-seeded Kingsway (16-3-3).

Freehold Township 1 Manalapan 0 | Central Group 4 Final

Ainsley Moy’s goal in the 25th minute off a pass from Dani Howard was all the Patriots needed to secure a third straight Central Jersey Group 4 title.  The Patriots avenged a 1-0 OT loss to the Braves in the regular season.  Freehold Township (18-3) will take on Central Regional for a spot in the Group 4 state championship game.

Wall 0 Rumson-Fair Haven 0 (Wall wins 4-3 in PKs) | Central Group 2 Final

Sam Brett’s conversion in the fifth round was the clincher as Wall repeats as Central Jersey Group 2 champion beating the Bulldogs for a second straight year in the final.  100 minutes of scoreless soccer turned things over to the drama of penalties.
