The state playoffs continue as JSZ brings you highlights from the quarterfinals of the girls’ soccer state playoffs! Check back throughout the night as the highlights are posted!


Pennington 2 Rutgers Prep 1 | Girls | Prep Final

Pennington (21-0) defeated Rutgers Prep (16-1) Rutgers Prep for the 2023 Prep Championship and a second consecutive undefeated season. Villanova commit Morgan Kotch and Penn commit Hailey Adamsky scored in the 25th and 30th minute to give Pennington a 2-0 lead at halftime. Virginia commit Addison Halpern scored in the 62nd minute for Rutgers Prep on a free kick to cut the lead to 2-1, but the Argonauts were unable to force overtime late. Kotch, who netted her 37th score of the season caps of her career with a school record 108 goals.

Randolph 3 Sparta 2 (2OT) | Girls | North 1 Group 3 Quarterfinal

Kayla Brand was the hero Monday night thanks to a 92nd minute golden goal that lifted her Rams to a huge win against a fellow Top 10 state-ranked team. This was a back-and-forth game that featured great goals and a high-level of play between fourth-seeded Randolph (18-2-2) and fifth-seeded Sparta (14-3). The Rams will advance to face top-seed Northern Highlands in the sectional semifinals on Thursday.

Middletown South 4 Colts Neck 0 | Girls | Central Jersey Group 3 Quarterfinal

Amanda MacGregor scored four goals in a sensational performance to put the defending sectional champs into the semifinals.  MacGregor scored in the fourth minute to put the Eagles on the board.  Colts Neck Mia Nikolic had 17 saves and kept the match 1-0 at the half but MacGregor had two goals off headers and added one more in the 57th minute to put Middletown South into the next round.  The Eagles will face Steinert on Thursday looking to return to the finals.

Shawnee 3 Mainland 0 | Girls | South Jersey Group 3 Quarterfinal

The Renegades surged late in the second half to get past the Mustangs and earn a spot in the sectional semifinals. Eva Matesich gave second-seeded Shawnee (16-2-1) the lead in the 58th minute with her fourth goal of the season. Avery Kornafel added a goal while Madelynn Sadusky finished with a goal and two assists in the victory. Genevieve Morrison racked up ten saves in net for seventh-seeded Mainland (10-7-3). Shawnee will host sixth-seeded Timber Creek in the SJ Group 3 semifinals on Thursday.
