Monday evening in Jersey City was a spectacle as students, alumni, parents and soccer fans were treated to a great game from No.1 (U.S.) St. Benedict’s and No. 9 (N.J.) St. Peter’s Prep. After a slow first half Juilian Gomez with the only score of the game collected two more in the second to earn a hat trick! The Bee’s five goal shutout puts them at 13-0 on the year as they prepare for the Prep A Playoffs. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights:
Ocean 2 Holmdel 2 | Ocean Wins 4-2 on PK’s – Shore Conference Tournament Semifinals
Ocean Township Spartans fought though 100-plus minutes of soccer and two overtime periods to a 4-2 penalty kick shootout win in the Shore Conference Tournament semifinals over Holmdel. The win served as revenge for Ocean as they lost in the SCT finals last year, 7-1, to Holmdel. This loss was the Hornets’ first of the season. Ocean keeper Max Winters had two key saves during the penalty kicks to help preserve the win. JSZ’s Jay Cook has highlights from this thriller in Point Pleasant:
CBA 2 Jackson Memorial 1 (OT) – Shore Conference Tournament Semifinals
Luke Pascarella’s goal off a feed from Dom Bellomo with 1:30 to go in the first overtime period gives the Colts a spot in the SCT finals and a showdown with Ocean Township. Jack Gill gave CBA a 1-0 lead in the 9th minute off a feed from Pascarella. Jackson Memorial drew even thanks to a Joe Schlageter penalty kick in the second half.
