Red Bank Catholic 4 St. Joe-Metuchen 0 | Non-Public A South

Shane Panzini hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the first and came on in relief to strike out all four batters he faced to pick up the save to get the Caseys through to the sectional semifinals. Nico Gonzalez had a two run single with two outs in the third to account for the other two Caseys runs. Following a 1 hour-40 minute rain delay, Panzini came on in the 6th with 2 outs and the bases loaded and delivered the strikeout followed by a flawless 7th inning. RBC will face the winner of Bishop Eustace and St. John Vianney on Monday. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the highlights from Red Bank:


Immaculata 8 St. Joseph (Hamm.) 6 | Non-Public B South

The Spartans used a five-run sixth inning to surge past the Wildcats and into the Non-Public “B” South semifinals. Boston College-commit Chris Markovich came up clutch with a three-RBI double during the big sixth inning for Immaculata. Elon-commit Alex Duffey flipped the momentum with a two-run home run for the Spartans that tied the game in the fifth inning. UNC-Asheville commit Brock Mercado had a pair of RBIs in the loss for St. Joseph. Immaculata will now play third-seed Holy Spirit in the Non-Public B South semifinals.

Holy Spirit 4 Trenton Catholic Academy 0 | Non-Public B South

UMBC commit Jayden Shertel threw a gem for the third-seeded Spartans, striking out 12 in six shutout innings of work. CJ Egrie had a triple and two RBIs, while Trevor Smith had an RBI single and an RBI double in the victory. Spirit moves to (16-9) and will host Immaculata in the sectional semifinal round on Monday. Seton Hall commit Jedier Hernandez had a pair of hits for the sixth-seeded Iron Mikes (12-6) in the loss.
