Four state championships were on the line as New Jersey crowned state champions in Groups 1 and 2 on Friday night. The Manasquan boys and Allentown girls become first-time state champions. Plus, the Glen Ridge boys and RFH girls go the distance and then some to bring home the Group 2 state titles. Enjoy the highlights!
Glen Ridge 8 Mountain Lakes 7 (OT) | Boys | Group 1 State Final
Brad Foster took a pass at midfield and went the distance to score the game-winner in overtime with his third goal of the game and give Glen Ridge (16-8) its first state title since 2011. The Ridgers trailed Mountain Lakes (14-8) 7-6 after three quarters before JP Labadia tied the game early in the fourth quarter. In overtime, Jimmy Benson came up with a key ground ball that set the stage for Foster’s heroics.

Manasquan 13 Hopewell Valley 5 | Boys | Group 2 State Final
The senior trio of Lehigh commit Brandon Kunz, Bentley commit Ryan Aldi, and Monmouth commit Matt Schneider combined for nine goals and four assists in their final high school game. Late in the fourth quarter, senior Kelly Mulligan notched a goal—an incredible moment, as Mulligan tore his ACL last season and was only cleared to play the morning of the game. The team rallied around him in what was a beautiful and inspiring moment. For Hopewell Valley (21-3), the best season in program history has come to an end. Washington & Lee commit Luke Caldwell scored four goals to raise his season total to 121, becoming just the third player in New Jersey history to reach 300 career goals. In a game filled with heartwarming moments and historic achievements, Manasquan (19-3) captured the Group 2 lacrosse final, earning the first state title in program history.
