Summit 9 Shawnee 3 | Group 3 State Championship

The Hilltoppers were stout on defense all night long, then used a four-goal surge to open the fourth to top the Renegades for a second-straight year for their fourth-straight state title overall. Washington & Lee commit James Grainger led the way with a hat trick, while Hamilton commit Cole Sabol and Boudin commit Jack Freeman added a pair of goals in the victory. Fairfield commit Robbie Kievit stopped eight shots for Summit (20-1). Rutgers commit Tyler Rotkowitz and Duke commits Brett Lundberg and Tom McAneney scored in the loss for Shawnee (16-5). Summit is currently the top-ranked team in New Jersey, and will look to cement that number one ranking in next week’s Kirst Cup.

Mountain Lakes 10 Rumson-Fair Haven 7 | Group 1 State Championship

Holden Gillespie scored five goals and Lawson Fagan scored all three of his goals in the fourth quarter to give legendary coach Tim Flynn and the Lakers a 17th state championship.  Mountain Lakes scored three straight goals to take a 6-3 lead before a lightning delay arrived with 2:49 left in the half.  After a 1:47 delay, RFH was able to cut the lead to 7-6 at the end of the third quarter but the Bulldogs could not draw even.  Fagan scored the final two goals of the game to seal the deal and end a three year streak of falling short in the state finals.  RFH (18-7) had a 13 game win streak snapped, the Lakers are 14-8 and will head to the Kirst Cup.
