What better way to kick off the weekend than with some big-time baseball? JSZ has coverage from some tremendous games around the Garden State!

Monroe 2 South Brunswick 1 (9 innings)

Pitching was the headline of the afternoon as Joey Tuttoilmondo for South Brunswick went seven innings, allowing just one earned run and finishing with 10 strikeouts. Josh Weinstein for Monroe went six innings and picked up eight K’s in the process. Chris Wisniewski came on in relief for the Falcons and racked up four strikeouts in three innings. In the bottom of the ninth Garrett VanBuren hit a walk-off RBI single to lead Monroe to a 2-1 victory.

Jackson Memorial 2 Toms River North 0

Jackson Memorial usually employs a high-octane offense, but on Friday it was their ability to play small ball that brought them their third-straight win. The Jaguars (8-2) scored a pair of runs in the fifth inning and would rely on their pitching and defense in the late innings to lock up the win. Toms River North (4-4) will play Jackson Memorial next Tuesday.
