JSZ kicks off Memorial Day weekend with a full slate of lacrosse games, including a massive matchup in the Shore Conference Tournament finale and both the boys and girls finals in the GMC.


Monroe 14 Old Bridge 7 | Boys | GMC Final

Monroe (14-3) defeated Old Bridge (11-8) 14-7 to capture its third straight GMC Tournament title. With a slim 8-7 lead entering the fourth, Monroe scored six goals in the final quarter. Anton Updale finished the evening with three goals while Chris Pucciarelli had four scores.

Old Bridge 5 Monroe 4 | Girls | GMC Final | OT

Old Bridge (12-4) hoisted its first Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament trophy since 2015 with a thrilling 5-4 overtime win over Monroe (12-3). Locked into a tight 4-4 battle at the end of regulation, Ella Sblano found net less than a minute into extra time for Old Bridge. Sblano and Isabella Ruback both finished with a pair of scores.

Montclair Kimberley 11 Millburn 6 | Boys

Jake Waldman’s seven point game not only helped Montclair Kimberley secure another win, but it also put him at a career milestone. Waldman scored his 200th career point on a wet Friday night against fellow NJILL conference team, Millburn. His three goals and four assists powered a relentless offensive effort while goalie Jake Pryor stopped a dozen shots in net. The Millers were paced by Blake Wiseman and his three-goal effort.

Lenape 8 Ocean City 5 | Boys

Luke Birney scored three goals to lead the Indians to a non-league victory on the road against the Red Raiders. Riley Spitznas added a pair of goals for Lenape (11-2). Jake Schneider scored three goals for OC (10-6) in the loss.

Lenape 13 Cherokee 10 | Girls

Despite the rainy conditions, the Indians caught fire in the second half en route to dealing the Lady Chiefs its first loss of the season. Lenape used a 4-0 scoring run in the second half to build a five-goal lead, and hung on late to secure a signature victory over one of the last remaining undefeated teams in the state. Emma Bunting and Gianna Monaco each scored four goals to lead a balanced attack in the win for Lenape (11-2). Alex Kulinski scored four goals in the loss for Cherokee (15-1).
