Two more county championship were decided on a rainy Friday around the Garden State. JSZ has highlights from the Camden County Tournament final and the Somerset County Tournament final. Check back as the highlights are posted throughout the night!
Immaculata 1 Watchung Hills 0 (8 Innings) | Somerset County Final
Stef DiGeronomo’s RBI single in the top of the 8th inning was the only run of the game as Lucas Sheehan outdueled Wake Forest commit Ryan Auten on the mound to give the Warriors their first Somerset title in 17 years. Auten threw 7.2 innings with 15 strikeouts while Sheehan only allowed three hits over eight full innings. The Warriors got key plays in the field from Brady Simo getting Watchung Hills out of a bases loaded jam in the fifth and Brody Griffith making a leaping catch in left in the sixth that saved a run and resulted in a double play. Immacualta rallied in the bottom of the 8th with the winning run at first base but a fielder’s choice ended the game. The final play showed Immaculata’s Justin Labrador safe at second but there is no instant replay in high school baseball.
JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has all the highlights and post-game reaction from Bridgewater:

Eastern 12 Pennsauken 2 (5 innings) | Camden County Tournament Final
A little rain did not slow down the Viking bats as they powered their way to a second-straight county championship. Matt Gryskiewicz smashed a two-run home run as part of a three RBI day, while Sean Karbach and Jorden Espino added a pair of RBIs each in the victory. Rich Iuliucci tossed four shutout innings with six strikeouts to earn the win and added a pair of RBIs at the dish. Anthony Cataldo went 3-for-3 with a triple and picked up his 100th career for Eastern (18-8). Ayden Alves had a two RBI double in the loss for Pennsauken (13-8). Both teams now get set for the South Jersey Group 4 playoffs, where they could see each other again in the quarterfinals.
