Ocean Township 3 Freehold Boro 0
Tommy Kowaliwskyj pitched 6.1 shutout innings and Ben Robinson came on to get the final two outs to combine for the shutout as the Spartans open the 2024 season with a Shore Conference “B” North win. Kowaliwskyj gave up three hits, walked five and struck out seven. The Spartans scored single runs in the second, third and fifth innings thanks to a bases loaded hit by pitch, an infield RBI single by Jack Kelly and an insurance run on an error.

Monroe 8 St. Joseph (Metuchen) 1
Monroe picked up their first win of the 2024 season following an 8-1 victory over Greater Middlesex Conference Red Division rival St. Joseph (Metuchen). After putting up two runs in the first inning, Monroe got a big lift from Penn State commit Harrison Lollin who sent a two run home run over the centerfield wall to extended the lead to 6-0 in just the second inning. Lollin finished 1-4 with two RBI’s, Kyle McCauley went 3-3 with two RBI’s for Monroe and senior pitcher Zack Wallace had just five hits allowed, no earned runs and eight strike outs.

Gloucester Catholic 11 Clearview 1 (6 Innings)
The defending Non-Public “B” state champion Rams put together a pair of big innings in the fourth and fifth as they rolled against the Pioneers in their home opener. Braeden Lipoff’s RBI triple sparked a four-run fourth inning to help the Rams seize control of the game. Virginia commit Noah Danza finished with three hits and a pair of RBIs in the win for Gloucester Catholic (2-0). Pat Yurgin drove in a run in the loss for Clearview (0-1).
