Cranford 5 Elizabeth 1

Shane VanDam delivered a solo homerun to left field in the 5th inning that put the game out of reach in favor of Cranford (6-0). Will Gallagher threw 95 pitches over six innings and struck out four to secure the win. Elizabeth (5-3) hosts Governor Livingston next.

St. Joe-Montvale 8 Clifton 0

What started as a pitcher’s duel between St. Joesph (Montvale) and Clifton became a statement win for the Green Knights, who improved to 7-0 on the season, defeating the Mustangs 8-0. St. Joe’s was bolstered by LHP Jude Zern, who threw a complete-game shutout, racking up six strikeouts. But through five innings, neither Zem nor Clifton’s Justin Rivera allowed a single run and only seven combined hits. The only half-inning with any offense was the top of the sixth, where the Knights scored seven of their eight runs with two outs behind big hits by Jeremy Acosta and Albert Serrano, each of which resulted in a pair of runs.
