JSZ has action from some great Friday games!
Delbarton 12 Poly Prep (N.Y.) 0 (5 inn.) | Mid-Atlantic Baseball Challenge Semifinal
No. 3 Delbarton made a statement in Friday’s Mid-Atlantic Baseball Challenge semifinal by defeating Poly Prep, one of New York’s top-10 squads, 12-0 in five innings.
After Poly starter Hudson Reed had three shutout innings with one hit allowed and six strikeouts, Ted Masino scored Finnian O’Loughlin on an RBI single to give the Green Wave the 1-0 lead. Then, Delbarton’s offense exploded in the fifth. Penn commit Lorenzo Maselli had a bases-clearing double with no one out to make it 4-0, which ended Reed’s day. Dylan Temple followed with an RBI single to give Delby the 5-0 lead, Danny Haggard had with a bunt RBI single, Luke Hall was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Matt Tafuri brought home Haggard on a fielder’s choice, Maselli had a bases-loaded walk, and Alabama commit O’Loughlin laced a bases-loaded double to make it 12-0 and 11 runs scored in the half-inning.
Wake Forest commit Luke McBride then finished the job in the bottom of the fifth with a 1-2-3 inning to seal his complete game two-hit, two-strikeout shutout and hand Delbarton the win via the 10-run rule.
The Green Wave will face No. 2 Gloucester Catholic in Sunday’s tournament final at Fleury Field at 3:00pm.
