JSZ brings you wall-to-wall coverage of state championship weekend from Jersey Mike’s Arena on the campus of Rutgers University. We kick off three full days of action with the Non-Public state finals. Check back as the highlights are posted throughout the night!


Bergen Catholic 52 Camden Catholic 49 | Boys | Non-Public “A” State Final

Jayden Brown scored 12 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Crusaders back from a nine point deficit to win the Non-Public “A” state title.  Camden Catholic had a 27-23 halftime lead and increased the lead to 43-34 at the end of three sparked by Bryce Clark’s 18 points.  Brown scored eight points in a 12-2 run that gave Bergen Catholic the lead.  Julius Avent blocked the game tying three point attempt to seal the deal.  Brown finished with 18 and Declan Wucherpfennig had a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards.  Bergen Catholic finishes the year with a 27-5 record while Camden Catholic (24-7) had an incredible run with back to back double overtime wins to reach the state championship game.

Roselle Catholic 55 Saint Rose 51 | Boys | Non-Public “B” State Final

Trevon Lewis had 21 points including an incredible basket and foul with 27.7 seconds to give the Lions the lead after trailing for nearly the entire game.  Lewis scored eight straight points for the Lions to put them in front 53-51 then fell on a loose ball to get a turnover and allowing Jalen Grant (12 points) to seal the state title with two free throws.  Saint Rose (23-8) was led by Jayden Hodge who had 23 points and 12 rebounds.  Roselle Catholic (24-6) has now three state titles in the last four years.

Morris Catholic 54 Paul VI 44 | Girls | Non-Public “A” State Final

The Pauldo twins conclude their high school careers on the top of the mountain in New Jersey. Mya’s game-high 21 points and Mia’s 15-point performance closed out a third-straight state championship for Morris Catholic (28-0), as they secure the state’s top-overall ranking. Daniella Matus chipped in 11 points and five rebounds in the win. Morris Catholic is the first team since Franklin (2019) to go undefeated. Azanah Campbell led Paul VI (27-1) with 13 points in the loss.

Montclair Immaculate 41 Gloucester Catholic 30 | Girls | Non-Public “B” State Final

The Lions wrote a storybook ending to the final game in school history as they pulled away in the fourth to bring home the program’s first and only state championship. Nilah Rivera went for a game-high 11 points, while London Caldwell added ten points in the victory for Montclair Immaculate (21-9). Jahzara Green had a team-high nine points in the loss for Gloucester Catholic (26-5), which made its first state final since 1983.
